Nina Las Vegas

Sweet ~Relief! 2023~

About

Over the course of her decades in the music industry, Nina Las Vegas (Nina Agzarian) has become a powerful female force in both the Australian & International dance music landscapes. Her unwavering dedication to dance music has created her a lasting career in a multitude of spaces, with Nina’s passion for this music remaining front & centre throughout her work as a label head, producer & DJ.

The beginning of Nina’s career in music saw her working for a decade as a host & programmer on Australian radio station triple j. Over that time, she garnered herself a strong reputation for discovering & promoting dance music from all over the world.

Nina remains a strong champion for local & international dance music, now using her label NLV Records to impart the work of forward-thinking artists with the world.

Created in 2015, Nina has since cultivated a strong underground culture & community through her work fostering NLV Records. The label has a healthy & diverse catalogue of over 30 works, with curated projects from Nina’s long-time friends & collaborators such as Swick, Lewis CanCut, Strict Face, Kota Banks, Ninajirachi, UniiQU3, Hi Tom, & more.

Nina’s development as a producer has come hand in hand with the building of NLV Records. With two solo EP’s to her name (2016’s EZY or Never & 2018’s Lucky Girl) & a multitude of singles, Nina’s solo output ranges in energy from balladic to downright ballistic. Her sound isn’t bound by any one genre, but rather tied to this ethos of pushing forward-thinking dance music that she’s continually championed. She’s collaborated with a massive range of acts including Swick, Anna Lunoe, Vera Blue, Ecca Vandal, Snappy Jit, Ninajirachi & MC Bin Laden. 2020 has seen Nina release a club-ready collaboration with Thai Chi Rosé titled ‘Impossible’, which later copped a remix from Roska.

On the DJ front, Nina’s hit the stage of every major festival in Australia including Big Day Out, Stereosonic, Splendour In The Grass, Groovin’ The Moo, Parklife & FOMO.

She’s toured the country multiple times with her NLV Presents brand, taking acts like Eclair Fifi (UK), UNiiQU3 (US), Djemba Djemba (US) & Mssingno (UK) to packed clubs like Brisbane’s TBC Club, Sydney’s Goodgod Small Club & more.

On the international front, Nina’s toured all over the world – including Japan, North America, Europe & the UK. She’s played at festivals including Coachella, HARD, Holy Ship!, Porter Robinson’s Second Sky, Iglooghost’s Igloofest, Friendship, The Greatest Day Ever & SXSW to name a few. She’s been the lead support for Sofi Tukker’s 2019 Europe tour, as well as lead support for Porter Robinson’s 2019 Virtual Self sold-out shows in Los Angeles.

Her magnetic DJ sets doubled as an opportunity to put dance music from all around the world on the stage, which made Nina’s Boiler Room debut in 2018 all the more sweet. She headlined Boiler Room x Nike’s ON AIR event, using the set to showcase sounds from herself, NLV Records & beyond.

In 2018 & 2019, Nina was invited to judge & mentor at the historic Red Bull Music 3Style competition, an annual event that’s been called the “Olympics of DJing”.

More recently, United We Stream Australia broadcasted Nina DJing live from Wiradjuri country in Mangoplah, a town around 36 kilometres south of her hometown of Wagga Wagga. The national series of live-streamed electronic music events aims to showcase the diversity of electronic music culture in Australia. All of the donations that were raised during the stream were allocated to Heaps Decent, an Australian organisation co-founded by Nina, Andrew Levins and Diplo (US) that empowers diverse young people to express their creativity through both music & multi-media.

2019 saw Nina’s partnership with Nike Football expand, writing the Australian Women’s FIFA World Cup anthem for The Matildas, ‘Everything We Ever Dreamed Of’ with Ninajirachi, Kota Banks & KLP. Selected as an Ambassador for Football Federation Australia successful #AsOne campaign to host the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia, Nina also hosted the launch of Nike’s 2020 Australia National Team Kit.

Constantly advocating for emerging artists in the electronic space, Nina joined industry heavyweights as a judge in this year’s Amex Music Backers Judging Panel. Currently the cover of DJ Sliink’s Global Club Music playlist on Spotify, November sees Nina selected as one of the first Australia DJs to curate a Track ID playlist on Spotify, showcasing her eclectic and forward thinking taste to the world.

A favourite DJ to Prada and Tiffanys in Australia, December 2019 saw Nina team up with Armani Exchange – launching a series of London nights and Arabella Simpson designed tee to give away to attendees.

In 2019, Nina relocated to London, making her mark on an already strong underground dance community & working hard to take her label & her work as a producer to the next level. NLV Records is now going into its fifth year, with the label since expanding to include artist management, A&R services, curation & creative partnerships. Despite the year’s challenges, Nina’s put out a steady run of tracks in 2020 with more to come before the year is out.

On the surface, Nina is many things – DJ, producer, label head, experienced broadcaster. It is Nina’s powerful work ethic, tastemaker ethos & consistency that has made her the influential figure that she is today, & it is those attributes that continue to marry all of her projects together into one cohesive vision.
