Ned and the Kellys formed in 1991 to perform a one-off, post flood concert in Charleville, southwest Queensland. 

With strict instructions to play a few Australian, bush songs the members relinquished their rock and folk interests and did a rocked up bush set. Now, The Ned’s have been doing it ever since.

With 2 albums, one used to raise funds for RFDS, and 2 tours of Ireland, the band is an experienced outfit with sets now including mostly original songs, much bush music and rock and roll classics. 

Although the band formed in Charleville, over 30 years ago, there have only been 2 changes to the original lineup. The Neds members are spread far and wide, but the band still plays corporate events and special functions. 

Highlights include supporting Leo Sayer, Mental as Anything, Paul Kelly and sharing the bill with Col Joy for a week on Norfolk Island. 

During 2023 the band spent a week in Charleville rehearsing for a free concert for the community to celebrate 30 years of providing entertainment for much of western Queensland.
