About

Paul Dempsey, best known as the singer, guitarist and principal songwriter for the highly successful Australian band Something for Kate, has achieved remarkable success throughout his career. Equally known for his solo work, Dempsey is regarded as one of the country’s finest and most fiercely original lyricists. With six Top 10 platinum and gold records, a double album of B-sides and a Greatest Hits collection, he has sold close to a million records in Australia.

In 2009, during a break from Something for Kate, Paul released his debut solo album, “Everything is True,” which received overwhelming critical acclaim and achieved Gold sales in Australia. The album debuted at No.5 on the Australian Record Industry charts and No.1 on iTunes, earning Paul five ARIA Award nominations.

Following numerous sold-out Australian tours, festivals, and international shows, Paul released his second solo album, “Strange Loop,” in 2016. The album debuted at No.5 on the ARIA chart, and the singles “Morningless” and “Idiot Oracle” garnered widespread praise.

Paul continued his international journey with tours in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the UK and a special performance with David Bowie’s band. In 2018, he shifted focus to writing for Something for Kate’s 2020 album “The Modern Medieval“.

In 2024, Paul is poised to further solidify his standing as one of Australia’s most cherished and respected musicians. Venturing along The Outback Trail, he will take centre stage at “Outback Sounds,” delivering a live performance that promises to captivate the audience and send them home with lifelong music memories.
