#The Basics

Where is the event taking place?

The event will take place at Cairns Esplanade!


Do I need a ticket to attend this year's event?

Entry to the event is FREE, but Ticket Registration is required.

What is the site layout?

What are the running times?

The Shine On Gimuy light installations will activate each evening upon sunset from the 5th October to the 15th October. The Salt House Talks and Music series will be ticketed and all times for these events will be communicated via their ticket purchase pages at Moshtix and via e-mail.

*These times are subject to change at the discretion of the event organisers.
Patrons will be advised of any major changes.


Is it an all-ages event?

Yes! Shine On Gimuy is family-friendly.

Children under the age of 15 must be with a parent or guardian.


What should I bring?

Be prepared to present tickets (digital or printed) at the gates.


What is NOT allowed at the event?

BYO Alcohol is strictly prohibited.
Vehicles are not permitted anywhere near the event spaces.
No Professional Video Equipment

Is seating provided at the event?

No chairs will be provided.
Patrons with access or seating needs may contact us by submitting an Access Request. Our team will endeavour to ensure all patrons have a good experience.


What if it rains?

The activations will proceed with light rain. In the event of heavy rain or storm, shelter nearby will need to be sought.


Can I bring my food or alcohol?

Shine On Gimuy is a not a licensed event. Alcohol will not be for sale, and BYO Alcohol will not be permitted at this event. You may bring food into the space, but please dispose of waste in to the appropriate bins provided.

We invite patrons to support the local food & beverage providers in vicinity the Event Space.


Will there be ATMs?

There will be EFTPOS facilities in The Blak Market. There are ATMs in the Cairns CBD nearby if required.


Will there be lockers to store my things?

No lockers or coat check is available on site.



Can I bring my pet?

Pets (as well as registered assistance animals) are allowed, though please ensure that they are restrained/on leash.


Will Alcohol be available at this event?

No. Alcohol will not be for sale, and BYO Alcohol will not be permitted at this event.

Where can I park?

Cairns Regional Council provides off-street car parks at strategic locations in the region.

Parking fees and regulated hours (when time limits apply) vary depending on the location. Please check signage. Parking at Council's car parks is free on public holidays. Please see the Cairns Regional Council Website for more information.


Can I get entry to the event site without a ticket?

You can, but is heaviliy preferred if you pre-register!


Are there buses available to the event?

Yes! Please see below.

Is there a pick up and drop off location for Ubers/taxis?

Yes - there are many pickup/drop off locations in the Cairns CBD available for this purpose.

Yes, there is paid parking available nearby to the event space that includes accessible parking spaces.


Is the event wheelchair accessible?

Yes, but If you have concerns please reach out to our team by submitting an Access Request form.
